LIFELIGHTS LIGHTING SYSTEMS,
With the background of development in the technology of illumination, KTL Technologies’ Lifelights range of luminaires provides a breakthrough in non-intrusive lighting solutions with significant gains in energy efficiency, product life and safety. Careful thought was given to reducing the demand for raw materials and energy in the manufacture, lifetime and later disposal of these products. The core product range utilises modified light-guide technology, using SMD or CCFI light engines directed to achieve a superior standard of light projection. Recognition of KTL’s significant contribution to lighting design is registered in awards from ECCA, IES (Aus/NZ) and Prodesign in 2000.

ARENA - INTERACTIVE TERMINALS,
The genesis of the Arena range of interactive terminal products has its origins in the R&D work KTL Technologies carried out for the New Zealand Racing Board (formerly the TAB), the national body charged with facilitating the placement of bets on the various forms of horse racing, greyhound racing and sports betting. The result of KTL’s work for TAB is interactive terminal products that can be configured to suit several different applications, while at the same time being fully integrated with information, collection and payment systems. Over 1700 of these terminals are in place (with another 300 ready for delivery) ensuring service orientated businesses of the practicality and reliability of Arena’s firmware and hardware solutions. Arena – BOS is a customer driven point-of-sale terminal, incorporating a self-select touch-screen, cash and client-card payment facilities, printed ticket/confirmation. Arena – Agency is a unit designed for supplying agencies and sub branches with a terminal for use by sales staff. All are sophisticated products sharing the modularity of componentry, tailored and packaged for the differing site needs. KTL Technologies Arena range of products can be adapted for broad application across all types of service orientated businesses, education and public information services.

KTL CONSULTING SERVICES,
KTL Technologies is available to consult on a wide range of projects including; technical and feasibility studies relating to mechanical, electronic and software design, compliance with safety codes and building regulations, energy efficiency in the fields of lighting and building design, and independent energy generation. The primary focus of the company in design, prototyping and production of innovative electronics and lighting gives KTL Technologies expertise in specialist developments, testing and appraisal.
THIS IS OUR COMPANY,
KTL Technologies are electronic product specialists, focused on the design and development of sophisticated lighting products and interactive information systems. A strategy of constantly reviewing international trends and developments in the context of the company’s own innovative thinking ensures KTL clients are provided with world-class solutions. One of the first products to emerge from the company’s R&D work was the Lifelights X-IT, a technically advanced, fully compliant, illuminated exit sign. This product is recognised by awards from EECA, IES (Aus/NZ) and Prodesign Design 2000 for its technical and design innovation. KTL Technologies R&D work with the New Zealand TAB (now New Zealand Racing Board) has seen the development of a range of interactive terminal products to support the New Zealand TAB off-course and on-course betting products. KTL Technologies offer this proven system of products under the Arena brand name, customising the product to meet the needs of clients requiring ”customer- driven” point-of-sale terminal solutions, portable or agency terminals integrated with their own information and sales systems.
ECO – DESIGN,
KTL Technologies’ Lifelights brand grew from an ambition to design lighting products that would set new standards for performance, energy and materials efficiency. By adopting a holistic approach to the design process the company has succeeded with a range of innovative lighting technologies that reduce direct energy costs and mitigate the unnecessary consumption of raw materials and embodied energy costs. KTL Technologies Arena point-of-sale and information terminal products streamline the processing of information, while chassis and electronic platforms are modular in design to reduce manufacturing costs and facilitate customised solutions and the updating of functionality. Arena’s modular concept contributes significantly to extending product life and achieving better returns on investment. KTL Technologies ideal of eco-design is one of minimal impact on the natural environment while still creating products with superior design performance. This is a philosophy with some poignancy given the company’s location beside Taupo Swamp. The swamp survives because in the late part of the nineteenth and the early twentieth century it was important for the supply of flax fibre for the manufacture of rope and woven wool sacks. When these products where replaced with cheaper synthetics the swamp ceased to have economic value. Fortunately it wasn’t drained to provide land for farming or housing and it remained neglected until its unique ecological values were recognised. Now as the day settles the song of the frogs inhabiting Taupo Swamp remind the thoughtful listener of the value of preserving these small corners of the world – and of the value in working with and alongside the natural environment.
